Cabo Blanco Reserve Guided Hike

Costa Rica's first national park — and almost no one knows.

Half day (2 km) or full day (10 km) Up to 12 hikers Moderate
Cabo Blanco Reserve Guided Hike — photo 1

Cabo Blanco was the first reserve declared a national park in Costa Rica (1963). Karen Mogensen and Olof Wessberg fought for it. The result is one of the country's last intact tropical dry forests.

Two trail options: the short 2 km educational walk (great for kids and easy half-day), or the 10 km hike to a deserted Pacific beach at the tip of the peninsula (full day, real effort, worth it).

Naturalist guide spots monkeys, deer, coatis, and birds you'd never see on your own.
